Our Orthopedic Surgeons

Lawrence K.C. Li, MD and Edward Kolb, MD are all Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Our physicians are members of the medical staff at the following area hospitals: BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington; and at three surgery centers: Eastland SurgiCenter in Bloomington, Bloomington-Normal Healthcare Surgery Center in Normal, and Ireland Grove Center for Surgery in Bloomington.

Lawrence K.C. Li, M.D.

Dr. Li practices orthopedics and sports medicine with a focus on shoulder, knee and hand conditions. His goal is to regain function in the shortest time possible.

Dr. Li performs shoulder and knee surgeries arthroscopically, using minimally invasive techniques, which result much quicker recoveries than traditional procedures. Dr. Li also uses minimally invasive techniques to decrease recovery time after hand surgery.

Dr. Li founded Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center in 1996. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1982. He attended medical school at the University of Rochester, where he was awarded his M.D. in 1986.

He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Ohio State University Hospitals from 1986-1991. Dr. Li is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery

Dr. Li has served as team physician for Millikin University, Illinois State University Hockey and area high schools. He is an adjunct faculty member at Illinois State University. He has served on committees at Country Life Insurance Company, and Personal Care Insurance, and is an orthopedic consultant to the 3M Corporation.

Edward H. Kolb, M.D.

Dr. Edward Kolb is a board certified Orthopedic Surgeon who has been practicing in Central Illinois for the past 6 years. Dr. Kolb did his undergraduate training at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana and completed his Medical School and Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Rush Medical College in Chicago.

The Rush Medical College Orthopedic Surgery Program has consistently been ranked in the top 10 Orthopedic Surgery programs in the country and currently provides care for the Chicago Bulls and White Sox. Dr. Kolb has undergone outstanding Orthopedic Surgery training at Rush by many of the world’s leaders in shoulder and knee surgery.

He specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee and has been recognized with Honors at Rush for his research in cartilage transplantation.

Dr. Kolb has been the only orthopedic surgeon in the Bloomington/Normal area to achieve 99th percentile in patient satisfaction by a nationally recognized organization awarded in both 2007 and 2008 by the OSF St. Joseph Hospital system. Dr. Kolb has given over 50 lectures in Illinois to various organizations and universities regarding various topics and cutting edge techniques in orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Kolb is the President of the Ireland Grove Center for Surgery in Bloomington, IL and takes great pride in providing the highest quality of care to his patients.
